State Fair - Part 1

Last Friday (a week ago from this past Friday), when Joel was off for a holiday, we went to the Pecuaria in Goiania. Basically it is the state fair. Joel was so excited about taking us. He said that he and his brother used to always love to go to it every year. They were always blown away by the huge cows and all the great stuff there. He was so excited to take us...and the experience didn't disappoint. It was so great for him to be able to take the kids to something that he used to go to as a child. He loved seeing their expressions and hearing their thoughts on the experience that he has such fond memories of. It was GREAT.

I have a ton of pictures from that day, so here are the first half of them...in the next post you will get the second half. By the way, not much of Cass in these pictures...she was happily snoozing most of the day.

Waiting to leave.
Finally in the car...and taking a good nap before the long day. Great.
Lots and lots of animals.
Ay ay cow.

The cow swished that tail and almost hit her...she thought that was so funny.
Road block.
Still waiting.
Now that's a big mammal.

The workers all just sleep there. Here are a couple of bunks...right next to the cows.

Another sleeping place for a worker...the faithful hammock.

Joel and the kids getting a fruit bar...made from fruit from here in our state of Goias.
Wow, look at that produce.
We walked by these little ottomans that happened to be just the right colors for the kids that day...matching their outfits just right. :) Decided we had to take some pics.

This was SO hilarious!! We went during the day and it was very nice and peaceful and hardly anyone else was there. Nighttime is the really busy time and I'm sure they are really late nights for everyone involved. That was very evident looking at the workers around...if you'll notice in lots of my pictures, there are many people sleeping all over the place. :) This worker was snoozing (obviously very tired...look at that arm) and the kids were just walking by looking at him with wonder. Seriously, it was really funny.

Nice little cow.

Our friend Marcelo has this business...a tourist magazine. He had a booth set up there...probably the best booth there. I was pretty impressed. Anyway, so here we are visiting his booth.
Cots for the workers. Aren't those cool looking? I'd never seen those enclosed cots before. Looks like some good camping equipment to me.
Walking by the cows getting a bath.

The "tiger cows" as Joel called them. The kids agreed that they looked a little tiger-like with those stripes.
Tractor display.

Eissa met a friend at the tractors.

So cool! Looks just like a state fair here in the USA. I guess some things are multicultural! Looks a lot like when we took our kids to a similar event here in January! So funny how cultures can be different and similar! :) Thanks for all the great pics....looks like an awesome time!

That was neat to get to see. When I showed cattle in high school we did the same thing, lay around and even take naps during the day. We had the late nights and also really early mornings. We were up at the barns before the sun was up so that our cattle were in good shape and ready for visitors when they showed up.

Looks like a fun day! I'm amazed at how relaxed the cows look. Maybe it's just in the air with all the men laying around sleeping. Loved seeing your day through all the pictures!
