At the end of May we had a birthday party to go to. Lucas turned 3 I think (or is it 4?...I don't remember) and his brother Andre was 1. It was Gillian's first kids' birthday party here (her first weekend). One thing I didn't get a picture of was they had a lady there making food...basically crepes on a stick. Think corn dog, but not really. Anyway, they were filled with cheese, ham and cheese, or a chicken mix. Then she brought out the big guns at the end...CHOCOLATE. :) Yummy. We had a lot of fun at the party. Here...you can just see for yourself.
Love that van in the front. This is a rare sight in Brasil (a van).
The kids played lots and lots of games...as you will see.
The object of this game was to blow your balloon up until it popped...the first one to a pop their balloon won.
Grady and Hadley...
...(and Maira)...
...gave it their best shot...
...but in the end...
...just weren't...
...quite successful.
I have no idea who ended up blowing up their balloons for them.
Lucas.
Potato sack races.
Awesome.
The carry-the-egg-in-the-spoon game.
Grady never did take his hands down. :)
Hadley finally got the hang of it without her hands.
See the train in the balloons?
And see the Spiderman in the chocolate candies on the table? Cute huh?
And more awesome games. The three-legged race.
The water balloon toss.
Ooopsies, Maira got the bust.
Lucas about to get prayed for by his grandparents (the people who have adopted 30-something children...they had 13 with them that weekend) and be sung to.
Parabens!
Then they went over to Andre's train cake to do the same thing for him.
Look at that candle.
Andre having the time of his life.
And...the best picture of the night. You'll probably have to click on it to get the full effect. What was in that ball? Candy, but also FLOUR!! Hello...not good. One of the brother-in-laws thought it would be funny. O.K., it was slightly funny for some I guess, but it was quite messy and look at Hadley. This lady (sitting nicely in the picture before this holding a baby; brother-in-law to the left in the gray) was trying to stop the brother-in-law from actually popping the balloon when she found out what he'd put in it. Right as she was trying to stop it, he popped it. She fell down...on top of Hadley. In this picture the flour had not quite made it down to Hadley yet, but it did...and got all in her eyes. She wasn't a happy camper. Nothing a little water and tears didn't cure, but not the best of fun. Look at my face though...the priceless shocked Mama look, wouldn't you say?
The night was ended by pulling a little practical joke on Milton, our friend who is over the flight school at Asas. They filled his car with as many balloons could be packed in there. This was taken after he'd gotten most of them out, but everybody got a real kick out of it.
